Resumo

Classical softwares to perform structural analysis using the Finite Element Method (FEM) considers the Euler-Bernoulli and Timoshenko beams theories. However, these theories may not provide stress results with sufficient accuracy. Therefore, this study presents the expansion of an open-source object-oriented framework for structural analysis of frame structural models considering the Reddy beam model. Also, is presented a 3D Reddy formulation to perform linear and nonlinear geometric analysis. The computational implementation evidence the importance of use object-oriented frameworks, and open-source codes. The developed examples clearly shows the improvements in the shear stress prediction when considering higher order beams formulations in a frame element, and clarify for graduate and undergraduate students the diferences between the most usual beams formulations.
