Resumo

This work aims to analyze the structural behavior of beams in linear elastic regime by the
Finite Element Method (MEF) based on the Timoshenko Beam Theory. A numerical study of the
problem was developed and used as a base to a computational code that was developed in Fortran
language to be capable of simulating the structural behavior of beams through the aforementioned
theory. In order to validate the computational code, the results obtained through the analytical solutions
of the Timoshenko Beam Theory were compared with the numerical results, which were also compared
with the results of the analytical solutions obtained through the Euler-Bernoulli Beam Theory,
highlighting the differences between the two theories.
