Resumo

In this paper, the Local Radial Point Interpolation Method (LRPIM) is applied to analyse
the problem of plates according to the Reissner’s theory. An efficient interpolation scheme is
employed to improve the computational performance of the proposed method. To validate the
numerical implementation of the LRPIM, the results are compared with those provided by the Finite
Element Method (FEM) and the Meshless Local Petrov-Galerkin (MLPG) method. A detailed
discussion of the proposed interpolation scheme is carried out in order to demonstrate the performance
of the LRPIM applied to the problem of plate bending.
