Resumo

This study investigates the behavior of massive concrete structures and the stresses induced by temperature variations resulting from the hydration reaction at early ages. This article also uses the enhanced massivity index proposed by RILEM Technical Committee 254 CMS [3], which aids in identifying the most suitable analysis for each structural element. As a case study, a real concrete foundation block was analyzed. Temperatures within the block were monitored using thermocouples, and the experimental data were compared with results obtained from a numerical model. Once the model was validated against the experimental results, a mechanical analysis was conducted to predict the cracking behavior.
