Resumo

With the advancement of computational technology and numerical techniques, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) has been playing a fundamental role in solving problems of wind-structure interaction. Aiming at the optimization of the structural design from the reduction of the costs of experimental tests directed with computer simulations, this article presents an analysis of the feasibility in the use of an open access CFD tool, OpenFOAM, for the calculation of the dynamic pressures due to the action of the wind in buildings. CFD simulation was coupled in conjunction with the structural analysis model to evaluate the efforts and displacements by using the Finite Element Method.
