About

The International Symposium on Energy (ISE 2023): Energy Transition, Green Hydrogen, and Sustainable Industry is an important event that brings together experts, professionals, and academics from the energy sector from Brazil, Spain, Portugal, Slovenia, and other countries to discuss and exchange knowledge, experiences in actions carried out for the energy transition and sustainable development. Furthermore, the symposium promotes dialogue, collaboration, and partnerships between energy industry sectors, including policymakers, researchers, investors, technology providers, and end users.
ISE 2023 took place from the 22nd to the 23rd of November 2023, on the Santo André campus of the Federal University of ABC (UFABC) in-person attendee with support from the Postgraduate Program in Energy (PGENE) and Pro-Rector of Extension and Culture (PROEC). Additionally, ISE 2023 was sponsored by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES), São Paulo State Research Support Foundation (FAPESP), Center of Excellence in Hydrogen and Sustainable Energy Technologies (CEHTES), Companhia Energética of Minas Gerais (CEMIG) and Itaipú Technological Park (PTI). The collaborating institutions were the Federal University of Goiás (UFG), the National University of Brasília (UNB), the Brazilian Society of Energy Planning (SBPE), the Joint Chapter Energy Industry Connections of IEEE South Brazil Section, the Brazilian Wind Energy Association (ABEEólica), the National Institute of Science and Technology in Electric Energy (INERGE), the Santo André Technological Park, ABC Valley, CIGRE Brasil, and UFABC Jr.
The technical presentation topics were Applications and Operations of Energy Systems, Impacts, Public Policies, Planning of Energy Systems, Energy Sources, Energy Conversion, Energy Efficiency, Modeling and Innovative Technologies Applied to Energy Systems, Green Hydrogen, and Energy Transition. These topics were distributed in 4 paper sessions, with 36 technical works presented. During ISE 2023, two plenary sessions and three-panel discussions were broadcast in English and Portuguese on the Divulga: Energia & Ciência YouTube channel. This channel is a space to promote UFABC's PGENE.

There were days of intense exchanges between 100 in-person attendees, 198 online participants, and 15 speakers who discussed related topics:

The energy transition.
Reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Mitigating the adverse impacts of climate change to guarantee safety and energy accessibility to inhabitants.

Therefore, to aggregate the scientific knowledge shared at ISE 2023 and value this information, we organized the annals of technical works as an essential bibliographic reference for those interested in research related to sustainable planning. The technical works published here are the sole responsibility of the authors.
